EXAMPLES OF OUR WORK

  • Attended the consultant’s journal club to contribute and discuss stigma against service users and carers
  • Reviewed service discharge protocols which are vital for the fair treatment of vulnerable groups
  • Raised problems experienced by service users and carers with the Community Psychiatric Nursing Service
  • Helped develop and update a protocol for providers absence from work - to ensure continuity of service during that absence
  • Witnessing at other State Hospitals to share our practice
  • Members of the Panel support other mental health agencies
  • Collated questions from mental health groups in the local area, raised these with the Divisional Psychiatrists and provided feedback to all

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS

  • To forge positive and active relationships with new staff involved in the Mental Health Services
  • To continue working with the Division of Psychiatry
  • To establish links with the island of Arran
  • To promote the profile of service users and carers and ensure their voice is represented in all mental health forums.

DEVELOPING BRITISH AND INTERNATIONAL LINKS –

  • Delivered a power point presentation at a competition in Warrington called ‘Demonstrating Excellence – making the difference to people’s lives’.
  • Certificate of Excellence awarded
  • Hosted international visitors to Ayrshire who were reviewing  Scottish practice
  • Visited Greece and Austria – shared views on support, attitudes to mental health issues and the  holistic approach  to service users and carers
  • Attended health forums.
